Story Behind the Drawing

The Night Doorkeeper is a rabbit who guards the door to the Night / Death. He holds the key to the door in his paws and is surrounded by indications of quiet and stillness — a rocky pathway, moths, Night Phlox flowers, and extinguished candles. His counterpart is the Day Doorkeeper, the rabbit who guards the door to the Day / Life.
