Story Behind the Drawing
Many, many years ago in the town of Cedar Lane,
Lived an old, jolly soul who roamed the snow-covered plains.
He lived among the birds and the reindeer, too,
And they helped him sew scarves for all those he knew.
One frosty morning after gathering straws and leaves,
To use as a blanket for the overwintering bees,
The jolly old soul hung his socks by the fire,
And a new, marvelous idea sprang up inside him.
For the next month, he sewed all night and all day,
He sewed buttons and bells, a glorious ballet.
And when he was finished, he said to the deer,
“These magical stockings will be filled holiday cheer!”
He filled them with things from around his home town,
Fresh fruits, candies, ornaments—even honey dripping down!
And just as he gave them to family and friends,
We follow his tradition each December as the year ends.
