Story Behind the Drawing
For Ingrid, there is one problem, and one problem alone, for which she has never found a suitable solution; that is, the question of what to read next. The problem isn’t that Ingrid doesn’t know what to read. In fact, her problem is quite the opposite: she has too much to read. Every time Ingrid ventures out of the house (even if it is only to buy bread and other necessities), she always returns home with at least one new book in tow. Ingrid insists that she does not know how all of these books end up in her possession, despite the townspeople’s claims that she can be found perusing the aisles of the local bookshop each afternoon. “What wild imaginations people have these days,” Ingrid laughs. However these books find Ingrid, her stack of books continues to grow, which is why she spends most evenings in her book nook by the window, devouring as many stories as possible before she drifts off to sleep. Her current to-be-read pile includes the following titles: The Wombat and the Warlock by Jane Joyce (a high fantasy novel about an ordinary wombat who becomes rather extraordinary); The Language of Victorian Roses by Lady Beatrice Barnaby (a guide to old world roses, written by the queen of flowers herself); and The Clockwork Eye by Reginald Rune (a science fiction story about a clockmaker with a strange background).
