Story Behind the Drawing

The Glacial Post, located in northern Quebec, delivers letters and parcels to creatures throughout the Boreal Forest. The Post, which was founded by reindeer in 1631, is known for its Lettres de Glace, or Ice Letters, which are mailed out every year upon the first snowfall of the season. After the first dusting of snow has settled on the ground, the reindeer carefully collect and preserve some of the snowflakes. Then, they package the snowflakes in envelopes and deliver them by hoof to every resident of the forest. It is always a welcome sight to see a reindeer at your door with letters stacked in his antlers. For it is then you know that your Ice Letter has arrived.
